Mikey in so many Words

I had a guitar at an early age, got a Lotus Strat Copy for Christmas one year, I think I might have been 6 years old....

I twanged and banged on that thing for a long time, very few lessons early on from Richard in Jax Bch. If you are from JB then you Know who Richard was.... Other than rocking out to my sisters records I would steal and Play my little guitar and amp at full throttle music was just for fun. Then I entered a band and the bass player didn't show up twice. So Dillon, Baynes and Myself headed to the nearest pawn shop[... I started playing bass. It really all started on Bass guitar, music started to make sense------- The love for the groove and playing to the song was inspired and honed in on at an early age. Which is key to any musical situation, band or session still to this day. Bass was where it was at for a long time for me. I still noodled on the guitar but never thought of playing Professionally. I just wanted to PLAY! It morphed from there as I got older bouncing from band to band, gig to gig,, juggling 5 different acts at times amking a musical living and still working a normal job. Jack of all stringed trades it seemed. The Musical Harlot of Jax Bch. Not surprised as early on I would have a guitar or bass rig in his car ready to sit in with anyone.  After playing for 20 years and touring with many Original National Bands and playing with Local Party Cover Bands on both guitar and bass. I am always learning the art of musical entertainment. Music is my job now. FULL TIME. Living the dream!

One dream. One reality.
That BEST sums up my closest friend, confidant, and Brother, Mikey Clams.

When I first met Mikey we bonded over a mutual love of music and musical instruments, especially the GUITAR. Mike was always borrowing guitars from one friend and playing in a band with another friend and as the years passed by . . . our friends carried on with their women, their careers, their families, their priorities, their need to move to other cities, other countries, and so on.

Meanwhile, Mikey kept writing and playing music, the ONE constant in his life. As far back as I can remember, Mike always wanted to be a musician. And he always has been. And I’ve always admired his GUTS in doing so.

Because being an artist is not for the faint of HEART.

Mikey plays from the HEART. He follows his gut, believes in his instinct, trusts his feelings.
And it is for these reasons the people close to him have ALWAYS been supportive of his LIFE in music.

Without music, the life of “Dirty Mike” aka “Dirty Grr” aka “The Rellah” aka “Mikey Clams” doesn’t make sense.

I will always listen to the albums he’s making AND go to see him perform with his numerous bands
(be they Dream Pop, Party Rock, Punk Rock, Rockabilly, Blues, Indie, Country).

I will always invite him to my house to listen to records, watch YouTube Videos, and teach me the guitar licks he’s mastered which I can barely comprehend.
I will always call him first to brag about the newest musical equipment I’ve acquired so I can get his approval.
I will always ask him to let me open for him.

Reasons? BECAUSE . . .
Mikey Clams isn’t HIGH on music.
Mikey Clams isn’t INTO music.
Mikey Clams doesn’t LOVE music.
Mikey Clams . . . IS MUSIC.

Maybe you’ve heard/seen one of Mikey's many bands play?
